KC and The Sunshine Band Artist Bio and Lyrics

The American band KC and the Sunshine Band was formed in the early 1970s. Their musical style embraced disco and rhythm and blues, as well as funk music. They are perhaps best known for a string of hits they had throughout the decade that included “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s the Way (I Like It),” and “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty.”

Lyrics From Project 70's

The origins of the group go back to the city of Miami, where Harry Wayne Casey, later known as “KC,” began recording demos with one Richard Finch. The two soon added Robert Johnson and Jerome Smith on drums and guitar, respectively, to the line up, and KC and the Sunshine Band was born.

The group’s first few singles did not have much impact. It was not until the year 1975 and the release of the band’s eponymous debut album that they would score their first hit – “Get Down Tonight” – and go on to make musical history.

The albums of KC and the Sunshine Band include Do It Good, KC and the Sunshine Band, The Sound of Sunshine, Part Three, Who Do Ya Love, Do You Wanna Go Party, Space Cadet, The Painter, All in a Night’s Work, KC Ten, Oh Yeah!, I’ll Be There For You, Greatest Hits Vol. 1, The Best of KC and the Sunshine Band, Greatest Hits Vol. 2, KC and the Sunshine Band…and More, Part 3…and More, Get Down Live!, Shake Shake Shake and Other Hits, I’m Your Boogie Man and Other Hits, Live: Get Down Tonight, and In a Mellow Mood.
